If you’ve already decided on your wedding theme or colour scheme, the next step is to start planning how to bring the theme to life. And one of the best ways to do this is with your table decorations and centerpieces. For most weddings, the classic go-to décor idea is to add flowers, but as popular as they are, they’re not the only option when it comes to wedding centerpieces.

Here are some of our inspirational ideas for centerpieces:

The perfect way to bring beauty and colour into your wedding, flowers are a classic go-to for wedding table decorations. When deciding on flowers, think about what blooms are in season when your wedding is set to take place, as well as the latest floral trends to take note of. Whether it be small and sweet bouquets, or tall and decadent arrangements, there’s plenty to consider.

Easier on the budget than flowers but just as beautiful, foliage is a fantastic way to make a timeless yet elegant statement. The type of foliage you choose can help bring your wedding theme to life, with foliage like palm-tree fronds for a tropical wedding or green succulents for a rustic wedding.

Another wedding classic, candles are a simple way to add ambience and romance to your wedding reception. While white long stemmed candles are the traditional choice, there are plenty of ways you can adapt them to match your wedding theme. For a vintage or glamorous theme, opt for gold candelabras as your centrepieces, tea light candles for a more understated approach, or choose candles in shades of vibrant red or green to add colour to your tables. Scented candles are also a great way to add even more ambience to your wedding day.

Whether in addition to flowers or foliage, or simply on their own, lanterns are a great way to bring metallic accents like gold or rose gold to your wedding tables. While popular to house candles, lanterns can also be cleverly used to house flowers or greenery as well.

Similar to lanterns, glasses, jars or bottles are a great way to add more texture and interest to your wedding tables, as well as house flowers or candles. For a different effect, fill a large martini glass or jar with water and add floating candles or flowers.

Book loving couples may want to add colour and texture by adding vintage books to their tables. Perfect for a rustic or vintage theme wedding, books can be used as a rise to place a vase or mason jar on top of, or as a centerpiece on their own, ideally stacked on top of a piece of wood.

Framed photos

Framed photos of you and your loved ones are a great way to add a personal touch to your wedding tables. Just be sure to choose your frames according to your theme, whether it be antique gold frames for a vintage wedding or sleek black frames for a traditional wedding.

Fruit and vegetables

It may sounds strange, but adding fruit and vegetables to your wedding tables is a really clever way to add colour and further enhance your theme. For example, if you’re having an autumn wedding, small pumpkins and gourds are a great way to make an autumnal statement. Equally, a pineapple centre piece or small pineapples places on your guest’s plates make a wonderful statement for a tropical themed wedding that’s more related to our side of the world.
